Gay Island

Every year, a group of friends and I go on a pilgrimage to the Boundary Waters Canoe Wildness Area and I make us a shirt or sweatshirt to commemorate our time together. We’re always going to Gay Island, though the destination and journey looks different every year.

I screen print the shirts in my basement every year, so while they’re not always (ever) perfect, they’re made with grit and trail spice. Below are my designs for 2021-2024, featuring hand-drawn elements and specific coordinates for our campsites from the previous years.
